Rich Media Demonstration (for high-speed users)
Thank you for your interest in the Home Care Information Network. This web page provides you information on the rich media technology that HCIN uses to stream educational seminars over the Internet to home care providers throughout the U.S. We have also provided you a link to a 10-minute excerpt from a recent coding seminar series we recorded with Lisa Selman-Holman.
If you have never experienced a video-streamed seminar using rich media technology you are in for a treat. This is the next generation of web-based education and as close to a live in-person seminar as you can get. In fact, nearly two-thirds of respondents to a recent viewer survey reported that they prefer video-streaming over live presentations!
Unlike audio conferences or in-person events, with video streaming you participate in the seminar at your convenience. You choose when and where you want to view an event. After you make your purchase we will send you an e-mail confirming your order and an access code that will unlock the seminar for the period of time that you have purchased. The clock will not start ticking until you decide to activate the event.
No special software is required to view HCIN seminars. All you need to do is click and the presentation will begin. At any time you are viewing a seminar, you can pause, rewind or fast forward the video. You can also search for a particular slide addressing a specific topic and when you click on that slide the audio and video will change as well. Even your seminar handouts are just a click away.
If you would like to view a demonstration and see for yourself just how exciting and easy it is to use rich media technology just CLICK HERE.
Accessing the Presentations
To have the best educational experience possible it is recommended that you access the seminars over a high-speed Internet connection. This will allow you to simultaneously watch and listen to Lisa while you view her slide presentation. If you do not have access to a high-speed Internet connection, please click HERE to go to a web page that will provide you access to the audio and slides from this sample seminar. This content should easily stream over a dial-up connection.
HCIN-sponsored
seminars can be viewed on any computer running Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003
or Apple computers running Macintosh OS X. No special software should need to
be downloaded. If you do not have a recent version of Windows Media Player
(version 9 or above) a message will be displayed directing you to an update. If
the seminar does not start (an infrequent occurrence) you may need to disable your
pop-up blocker. In Internet Explorer you can do this by clicking on “Tools”
(see below). You will find rich media “Help” in the upper right corner of the
viewer window.
Viewing and Navigating in a Presentation
You will find that it is very easy to tailor your presentation experience to your viewing preferences and to navigate within the viewer window. When the presentation opens you will see a screen that displays a video of Lisa on the left and slides from her presentation on the right. The audio, video and slides are automatically synchronized as you move forward or backward in the presentation. The presentation can be paused at any time and can make either the slides or the video full screen if you wish. There are a number other navigation features that you may want to familiarize yourself with. For more information on these, click HERE.
Downloading Handouts
You can access seminar handouts by clicking on the “Details” button on the lower left portion of the viewer window. This will open a small window with a link to “Collateral Material.” Clicking on this link will open a PDF that can be viewed and printed using Adobe Acrobat.
Now You Have a Choice
HCIN now provides you a convenient and cost-effective alternative to audio conferences and in-person events. No scheduling hassles, no travel and lower cost. See for yourself why hundreds of home care executives and clinicians that have viewed a video-streamed seminar broadcast over HCIN are giving us “two thumbs up” for convenience, content, quality and cost.
We Would Like to Hear From You
Throughout 2006, HCIN will be producing dozens of additional seminars to be made available over the Internet. In addition to Lisa Selman-Holman, our expert faculty includes Melinda Gaboury, Linda Krulish, Trish Tulloch, Stephen Tweed, John Gilliland and Mike Ferris, just to name a few. As we launch HCIN, we are looking for feedback from our viewers. We would greatly appreciate it if you would take a few moments after viewing this demonstration to complete our brief on-line survey. You can access the viewer survey by clicking the button below.
